New York Democratic Lawyers Council Fundraiser

537 Votes.
In Florida in 2000, after an intense recount and the bizarre SCOTUS decision in Bush v. Gore, George W. Bush officially won Florida by 537 votes out of almost 6 million cast, and as a result, the entire presidential election.
We know today that thousands of Gore votes were lost due to erroneous registration purges and ballot issues that disproportionately suppressed minority votes. This kicked off a new wave of GOP-led disenfranchisement as people realized that competitive elections could be stolen by keeping certain voters from participating. We can’t let that happen this year which is why robust voter protection in November is more important than ever.
With special guests:
Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY8)*
Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY10)*
Basil Smikle, Exec. Director, NY Dems
*Tentatively confirmed to speak

The critical funds generated from this event will support NYDLC’s 2016 election monitoring program. NYDLC and our partners are working together to protect the vote for our Presidential nominee in swing-state battlegrounds. We are also prioritizing top Congressional and NYS Senate Red-to-Blue opportunities. In close races, our trained election monitors can make the difference by helping to save thousands of votes.
Working together, we can protect the rights of voters, retain the White House, take back Congress, and elect a Democratic Majority to the NYS Senate.
Can’t make the August 10th event? You can still help us protect the vote! 1) Support NYDLC in spirit with your generous non-ticket contribution;
2) Spread the word! forward this invitation to colleagues and friends;
3) Clear your calendar for Tues. Nov. 8 and commit to serve as an election monitor on Election Day in New York or a Battleground state
